Our oldest daughter Katie is at college for music education/performance and is a great piano player, and our son Micah is going into his senior year of high school and working on getting his Eagle Scout.
Where did you go to school? I went to the University of Maryland school of Architecture, and then worked at an architecture firm in Hagerstown for about 11 years and then continued working there while doing the distance learning program through Nazarene Theological Seminary.
What are your favorite sports teams? Da Bears!
Favorite food? Yes, lol. I love pizza, and love spicy food.
What is your favorite Scripture? I REALLY love the sermon on the mount
Why did you go into ministry? After years of trying to explain to God that he had picked the wrong guy, he eventually wore me down, lol. But beyond that, I love helping people.
Most mysterious thing about God? his amazing patience, grace, and love for humanity despite the mess that we’ve made and continue to make of our lives and our world.
What is your favorite attribute of God? his amazing patience, grace, and love for humanity despite the…. oh I already said that? well it just happens that I have the same answer here too. 🙂
What is your favorite book you’ve read recently? Non-fiction: Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown. and really, anything by Brene Brown I have loved, though some more than others. Fiction: The Martian was a great book – they made a movie about it with Matt Damon, which was good, but of course the book was better 😉
What are your hobbies and passions? I am a creative – I have to make stuff. I try to engage that in my sermon writing each week, but I also am an artist, working in ink, marker, watercolor, and to a lesser extent, acrylics. I used to play trombone in my high school and college, doing marching, concert, and jazz bands, as well as playing in the Hagerstown Municipal band for several years. I love the arts. I also have a garden at our house that I love to work on once spring comes around.
